This is just a little personal thing of mine, a bit of a rant, which is why I put it under the Read More (as well as to avoid spoilers). But it just deals with the transliteration of a certain Blond Haired Glen’s name~
Edit: My frustration is more directed to those who have…
Yeah, the Chinese did transliterate the name as Revy. I don’t know exactly how Chinese works, but before translating things one should check things like names (what name is this a transliteration of? and so on and so forth). Also, translations of the Japanese and RAWs since then have continued to use the name Revy, which I think is probably incorrect. But this is a very much so a technical/nerdy translation thing, which is why this is just a pet peeve more than anything else.
Then again, the various name transliterations found in PH bug me (such as Reo instead of Leo). I even have an issue with the transliteration of Reim’s name, since, well, Reim isn’t even a name to begin with. I use Liam, even though the Katakana used for Reim’s name does not transliterate to that (it essentially transliterates into no name). I do know that Reim is a last name, but not as a first. And since everyone else in PH has a Katakana name that transliterates to an actual (first) name, I go with the Liam transliteration (and I don’t trust the official guide book completely, it did contain that mistake of Shalon instead of Sharon).
So yeah, it can all get a bit complicated and can come down to technicalities and whatnot, but I just kept seeing Revy everywhere and was getting frustrated by that and had to rant a bit.
