So, I paid for my G-Fantasty at the combini yesterday night at 10:50. Amazon Japan has already confirmed my payment, so the item has now been shipped. Hopefully it will arrive sometime today, if not, then by tomorrow. The moment I get it though, I will be translating it. I am really eager for Retrace 84! ><

Anonymous Hello! Do you think I could ask a question? I was wondering if you could give me some advice on Japanese? I've been struggling to learn the Hiragana and Katakana characters (I'm trying to self-teach, if possible). Do you have any advice on how to do so? I'd like to learn to read and write them. First off, feel free to ask me questions whenever. :) I’ll always try to answer to the best of my ability and it’ll never be a pain or bother for me (if I don’t answer right away, it will either be because I am busy or because Tumblr ate the ask).
As for your question, the best advice that I can give is actually very simple: just sit down one day when you have a few hours to waste, and write out the Hiragana and Katakana characters. Just write them, over and over and over again. Do the Hiragana set first, then the Katakana set. Say each syllable out loud as you write it and write each set about ten or twenty times.
This is the really the only way to learn Hiragana and Katakana. With Kanji there are various ways, techniques, and tricks (due to the complexity of Kanji), but with Hiragana and Katakana, they are far less complex in appearance and creation, so the only way to really learn them is repetition. If you do the above, then the way to write them and what each Hiragana and Katakana character looks like should get stuck in your head, and then you should be fine with them.

So, tomorrow is Friday for me. I don’t think my G-Fantasy will be arriving tomorrow anyway, but regardless of that, I will be going to an enkai/yomikai, so I wouldn’t be able to translate the chapter on Friday (even if I did have the magazine). It should be arriving at my local LAWSONS (convenience store) on Saturday (though Amazon Japan has the estimated arrival date being between Monday - Wednesday…The estimated arrival date last time was far later than when it actually got shipped out and delivered to my house, I am taking that estimate with a grain of salt).
But, Saturday morning I am going to have to take care of some banking business (because I am the silly person who totally forgot their pin number for their Japanese bank account, so I need to get that reset). Once I do that though, I will be translating the moment I can. I am super excited for the new chapter! ><
Here’s to hoping for some Ada, Rainsworth action, and Barma stuff~
